Proposal: Win a Condo with Ondo
Summary
I propose that the Ondo DAO use up to $600,000 in treasury assets to run “Win a Condo,” a one-time campaign in which one eligible participant wins a home. The campaign would give Ondo a memorable way to introduce people to real-world assets: a DAO treasury funding the purchase of a real-world asset for a real person.
This proposal asks the DAO to approve the budget and campaign concept. The event would launch only after the final rules, eligible jurisdictions, and prize transfer process are published.
Budget
-
Up to $500,000 for the condo, including purchase and closing costs
-
Up to $100,000 for legal work, administration, an independent drawing, and the winner’s reasonable transfer costs
Unused funds return to the treasury. The organisers must publish a breakdown of actual spending after the event.
How the event works
Eligible participants register during a fixed entry period. Each verified person receives one entry. Buying or holding ONDO, depositing into an Ondo product, and making a purchase of any kind do not increase the chance of winning.
An independent administrator conducts and documents the drawing. The winner is verified before the property is purchased or transferred. If the winner cannot legally accept the prize, the administrator draws an alternate under the published rules.
The final terms must state where the property will be, whether the winner can choose from a shortlist, what costs the prize covers, and what taxes or ongoing costs the winner would bear. No campaign announcement should imply that those questions are settled before they are.
Why the DAO should do this
Ondo’s work makes real-world assets accessible onchain, but that idea can feel abstract outside crypto. “Win a Condo” is simple enough to understand immediately and distinctive enough to attract attention. It can bring new people into the Ondo community without making participation depend on trading or token ownership.
The DAO should judge the campaign against a concrete goal: whether it brings in people who go on to learn about and use Ondo’s products, rather than merely generating entries and impressions. The organisers should report registration numbers, eligible unique participants, campaign spending, and subsequent engagement using privacy-respecting aggregate figures.
Approval requested
I ask the DAO to approve a maximum treasury allocation of $600,000 and appoint an accountable campaign lead. Before any treasury funds are committed to a property or the event opens for entries, that lead must publish the final budget, official rules, legal review, administrator, and reporting plan for community scrutiny.
If those conditions cannot be met, the campaign does not launch and the allocation remains in the treasury.
